Sport Manitoba is holding three free webinars on safe sport. Hosted by Allison Forsyth, we’re working with her company, Generation Safe, to provide introductory safe sport webinars targeted at three different audiences but are open for anyone to attend:
- Feb. 5 – Teenage Athletes
This webinar will provide teenagers with a foundation of critical safe sport information. A general overview of safe sport will be provided followed by specific information for teenage athletes including appropriate athlete-to-athlete behavior, social media usage, behavior towards officials, and the importance of establishing boundaries with coaches. - Feb. 19 – Community Sport Coaches
This webinar will provide community sport coaches with an overview of safe sport in Canada. Moreover, coaches will learn how to proactively create a safe sport environment by receiving tips on hosting pre-season sport meetings. Additional topics will include the difference between assertive versus abusive coaching methods, appropriate communication with athletes, and strategies for communicating with officials. - Mar. 5 – Introduction à la sécurité dans le sport (en français)
Rejoignez la cycliste olympique Geneviève Jeanson pour entamer une conversation importante sur la Sécurité dans le sport au Canada. Une proche collaboratrice d’Allison Forsyth, fondatrice de Generation Safe, Geneviève défend avec passion la cause de la Sécurité dans le sport au Canada. Oratrice engagée, elle partagera ses expériences sportives pour parler de différentes formes de maltraitances, expliquer comment minimiser les risques environnementaux et culturels et identifier les éléments qui devraient attirer l’attention des organisations sportives, même s’ils ne sont pas couverts par les politiques et les formations actuelles. Geneviève s’engage à modifier la culture du sport et à l’améliorer.

About Allison
