Tailored care from a trained and experienced team of medical professionals shouldn’t be reserved for professional athletes. The Sport Manitoba Clinic is available for customized team care that will provide your athletes with effective treatment in an expedited fashion on their journey back to the field of play.
A sports physical is different from an annual physical because it focuses on reviewing the patient’s current health status and medical history to ensure they are healthy enough to play their sport. Your physician will review any preexisting injuries, assess the patient’s current fitness level and identify any congenital abnormalities. The areas of focus during a sports physical typically include height and weight, vision and hearing, heart health, blood pressure, muscle and bone health, flexibility and strength.
Often those who train have ongoing, nagging injuries that are always dealt with in the same manner, but never completely resolved. With a High-Performance Assessment, our clinicians can identify any existing muscle imbalance and biomechanical dysfunction that can leave you more susceptible to injury. We’ll complete a comprehensive set of individualized examinations allowing us to develop a plan of care and approach that will help you resolve ongoing issues for good.
Hear from our team of experts on a wide range of customized, sport-specific topics including concussion care, when the pain becomes an injury, mental skills training and many more. Topic by request is also available. Sessions can be delivered virtually or in person using meeting rooms at Sport Manitoba.
Included in all Team Packages is Performance Centre access during our semi-private time slots for injured athletes to complete their rehabilitation exercises, and/or help maintain the strength and conditioning of non-injured areas between clinic appointments. Under supervision of our Performance coaches, and in collaboration with the clinicians, this initiative ensures a safe maintenance program and seamless transition back into competition. Each injured athlete will receive 10-complimentary sessions per injury.
Located on the 2nd floor within the Sport Manitoba facility in the heart of Winnipeg’s Exchange District, the recently expanded Clinic now covers 6,000 sq ft and features a multi-disciplined team including Physician, Physiotherapy, Athletic and Massage Therapy, Osteopathy, Chiro, Concussion and X-ray services.
Our clinicians treat only one patient at a time, so they’re not bouncing from room to room trying to treat multiple people at once and that means we run our appointment schedule on time.
For teams that also use Sport Manitoba Performance, our clinicians will collaborate with the Performance Specialists and coaches to customize individual training and closely monitor recovery.
The Sport Manitoba Clinic and Performance are owned and operated by Sport Manitoba, a non-profit organization. Revenue generated is reinvested into amateur sport and community programs across Manitoba.
