The Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame has learned that Roy Williams (inducted in 2009 as an Athlete in basketball) passed away on September 14, 2020 at his home in BC with family at his side.
Roy and fellow Hall of Famer Carl Ridd were University of Manitoba Bisons together, and then represented Canada together at the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki as teammates.
A successful businessman with a lengthy career with Great West Life, Roy was always a proud supporter of the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame and stayed in touch after his induction. Our sincere condolences to Lenore, his wife of 70 years, and all of his family and to all of the basketball community.
