This year’s Summer Game Day presented by Qualico was a huge success, bringing together families and sport enthusiasts for an informative and fun introduction to sport. Held at the Lyric Field in Assiniboine Park, the free event was a celebration of sport, community, and the great summer weather with over approximately 800 participants.
A Day of Fun and Fitness
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the park was alive with energy as attendees were welcomed to try out a variety of sport stations, including athletics, baton twirling, Bonivital Soccer Club, cheer, cricket, fencing, golf, judo, lacrosse, orienteering, rhythmic gymnastics, ringette rugby, sail, table tennis, wrestling, and other programs like Fit Kids Healthy Kids, KidSport Manitoba, and Sport Manitoba Coaching.
This inclusive event was open to individuals of all abilities, ensuring that everyone had the chance to participate, learn, and have fun.
Community and Organization
The success of Summer Game Day was made possible by the collaborative effort of various sport organizations and volunteers. Each station was hosted by knowledgeable and enthusiastic coaches or instructors, who guided and encouraged kids through their sport. Their dedication ensured everyone could enjoy and benefit from the activities, regardless of skill level.
Participant Testimonials
Feedback from participants highlighted the event’s success:
- “It was well organized and fun for all ages!”
- “Seemed well organized, the folks at the stations were all friendly. Golf, boxing, and cricket were the favourites.”
- “All the different booths provided a good opportunity for the kids to try all sports before registering in the fall.”
The environment was welcoming, supportive, and filled with positive energy. Families spent quality time together, and children discovered new passions, all without the commitment of time or money.
Looking Forward
Summer Game Day presented by Qualico, was more than just an event; it was a true celebration of community, health, and the joy of sport. Looking ahead to January 11, 2025, our upcoming Game Day at the Sport Manitoba facility, located at 145 Pacific Ave in Winnipeg, will offer a chance for the community to come together once again, this time indoors, to escape the winter chill. This event captures the essence of sportsmanship and enjoyment, bringing families and enthusiasts together. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making the event a success; we look forward to seeing you there!
