Laurie is a dynamic force behind the scenes at the 2024 Manitoba Summer Games, contributing her time and energy in a multitude of ways. From preparing for the Opening Ceremonies to managing access control and athlete entertainment at the schools, Laurie’s commitment to making the Games a memorable experience for all is truly inspiring. She’s also found time to welcome athletes at the Village, assist at the rugby pitch, and even provide some much-needed “cheerleading” along the way!
For Laurie, the privilege of being involved in the Summer Games extends beyond her various roles. “Whether you’re an athlete, coach, or volunteer, each perspective is unique, but the positive energy and excitement are shared by all,” she says. Laurie is particularly excited for her daughter, who is participating as a rugby athlete, knowing that the friendships and memories made here will last a lifetime.
Laurie finds volunteering deeply rewarding, noting that it’s an opportunity to make a positive impact in the community and in the lives of others. “Our community of Dauphin and the surrounding area always pulls together when it truly counts,” she adds.
As Laurie supports the athletes and the Host Committee, she reminds everyone that the true success of the Games lies in the collective effort and shared experiences that will be cherished for years to come.
