Sport Manitoba envisions creating the best sport community through initiative and leadership and by establishing a highly supportive environment that will enhance the abilities of all Manitobans in their pursuit of excellence and in their joy of effort in amateur sport.
Below is an introductory list of services, programs and events that are designed to support and develop our athletes.
Sport Medicine Centre: This 5,226 square foot space is fully outfitted with state of the art equipment and supports a wide spectrum of patients of all ages and all abilities. Sport medicine services offered in a team environment now available to Manitobans include a sport medicine physician, chiropractic services, physical therapy, massage therapy, nutrition, and sport psychology.
Sport for Life Performance Centre: The focus of the Performance Centre is to provide a menu of services and mechanisms to help athletes at the Learn to Train and Train to Train stages develop the mental, physical, technical and tactical requirements to achieve their desired performance outcomes. The Performance Centre caters to the specific developmental needs of Interprovincial Games and provincial team athletes and coaches, elite athletes transitioning from the provincial to national level and national team members as required.
The Paul Robson Resource Centre for Leadership and Coaching: The Resource Centre includes a library (written resources and video resources) along with a computer lab available for public use and the delivery of sport education programs.
Scholarships: Scholarships are available to student athletes in Manitoba to assist them in their academics while pursuing their participation in sport.
Grants: Financial support may be available through additional programs such as athlete assistance, women to watch or KidSport.
Power Smart Manitoba Games: The province's largest ongoing multi-sport program bringing together participants from across the province. The Games are held every two years and alternate between summer and winter sports events. Participation in the Power Smart Manitoba Games begins with regional try outs. Regional teams of approximately 200 athletes, coaches, managers and mission staff go on to participate in the Provincial Finals.
Team Toba: Sport Manitoba works with the provincial sport organizations to send representatives from Manitoba (Team Toba) to both the Canada Games and the Western Canada Games. Both these games are multi-sport events that bring together the best athletes in a specified age group from across Canada or Western Canada.
Sport Partners: Sport Manitoba provides support to, and is in partnership with, over 100 sport-related organizations that also provide services, programs and events to support Manitoba's athletes.
